The Fiertel Ommegang is a procession of 32,6 km. It follows the ancient boundaries of the city of Ronse and takes you through the city, surrounding villages but also woods and fields. The climate can be very changing at this time of the year: from hot (up to 30 degrees Celsius) and sunny to cold (as low as 15 degrees Celsius) and rainy. Please provide walking equipment.
You will also need to take a backpack with some water, lunch etc. There are several very short stops where you can buy a small thing to eat and some refreshments, but we strongly recommend to bring your own lunch and refreshments.
The Fiertel starts with Mass at the St. Hermes church at 7 a.m. At 8.00 a.m. the Fiertel leaves Ronse and is expected to be back at St. Hermes around 6.30 p.m.
A bus will bring participants staying at the Leopold Hotel Oudenaarde to St. Hermes and back to Oudenaarde. For reasons of practical organization you need to register.
